Private transfer from Mürren to Zurich Airport. Cable car to valley + private drive (1 hr 55 min). Fixed price. interlakentransfers.ch.
Mürren is a car-free resort. No private vehicles are permitted in the village. InterlakenTransfers.ch drives you to Lauterbrunnen station (for the Grütschalp cable car) or to Stechelberg (for the Schilthornbahn). We assist with all luggage to the cable car. Journey time from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren via Grütschalp is approximately 20–25 minutes. Cable car fares are not included — purchase at the valley station. For returns, we meet you at the valley station when your cable car descends.
Leaving Mürren for Zurich Airport (ZRH) begins with the cable car descent: either the Schilthornbahn to Stechelberg (15 min, recommended for heavy luggage and ski equipment) or the Mürren–Grütschalp railway and Grütschalp cable car to Lauterbrunnen station (25 min). InterlakenTransfers.ch meets you at the base of whichever option you choose — driver is at Stechelberg or Lauterbrunnen station when you arrive, and all luggage is handled from the cable car exit to the vehicle.
The drive from the Lauterbrunnen valley to Zurich Airport covers approximately 140 km and takes around 1 hour 55 minutes via the A8 motorway west through Interlaken and Thun, the Bern bypass on the A1, then northeast to Zurich and ZRH Airport. We drop at the ZRH Departures level for your airline terminal.
We recommend descending from Mürren at least 3 hours 20 minutes before your ZRH flight — allowing 25 minutes cable car/railway descent plus 1 hour 55 minutes drive plus airport buffer. For large ski groups, the Business Minibus ensures all passengers and equipment travel together in one vehicle.
Zurich Airport (ZRH) — officially Flughafen Zürich — is Switzerland's largest international airport, located 13 km north of Zurich city centre in the municipality of Kloten. It is one of Europe's premier hub airports, handling approximately 31 million passengers per year across 180+ destinations operated by around 60 airlines. Swiss International Air Lines (Swiss) uses Zurich as its primary hub. Other major carriers include United Airlines (direct New York JFK and Newark), Delta Air Lines (Atlanta), American Airlines (Philadelphia and Dallas), Air Canada (Toronto), Lufthansa, British Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, Air India, and dozens of European carriers.
Zurich Airport has a single integrated terminal building divided into three concourses (A, B, and E — international), all connected airside and landside. International arrivals exit through passport control and customs into the central Arrivals Hall (Level 1) of the main building. Your InterlakenTransfers.ch driver waits in the Arrivals Hall with a clearly visible name board. There is no need to call or navigate — simply follow "Arrivals / Ankunft" signs after customs and you will see your driver.
Flight monitoring is included in every airport pickup. We track your flight in real time and adjust your driver's departure accordingly. Flight delays of up to 2 hours are accommodated at no extra charge — you are not penalised for delays outside your control. If your delay exceeds 2 hours, we contact you to confirm the revised pickup time. For very long delays or cancellations, we work with you to reschedule at no rebooking fee.
Zurich Airport facilities include a full range of services in the Arrivals zone: baggage trolleys (free), currency exchange (UBS and Thomas Cook), ATMs, a Starbucks, Marché restaurant, convenience pharmacy, and the Airport Shopping mall on the upper levels accessible before you exit. If you need to use a trolley for heavy luggage, your driver will assist bringing everything to the vehicle. The vehicle is parked in the designated professional pickup zone — typically a 2–4 minute walk from the Arrivals Hall exit.
Travel time from Zurich Airport to Interlaken is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes under normal conditions, via the A1 motorway southwest to Bern, then A6 south toward Thun and Spiez, then A8 east into the Bernese Oberland. Traffic around Zurich and Bern can extend this in peak hours (07:00–09:00 and 16:30–18:30 on weekdays). Your driver departs Lucerne well ahead of schedule to ensure on-time pickup regardless of traffic. To Grindelwald the journey is approximately 2 hours. To Lauterbrunnen approximately 2 hours. To Wengen and Mürren (to Lauterbrunnen station) approximately 2 hours.
Mürren (1,638 m) is the highest car-free village in the Bernese Oberland — a cluster of traditional chalets and hotels balanced on a narrow cliff-top ledge above the Lauterbrunnen valley, with one of the most dramatic and uninterrupted views in Switzerland: the Eiger (3,967 m), Mönch (4,107 m) and Jungfrau (4,158 m) filling the entire eastern horizon at close range. At 1,638 metres, Mürren is substantially higher than neighbouring Wengen (1,274 m) and receives notably more snow in winter.
Access to Mürren requires two steps from the valley floor: first the Luftseilbahn Grütschalp cable car from Lauterbrunnen valley (ascending 800 m in 4 minutes to Grütschalp at 1,486 m), then a 15-minute narrow-gauge railway along the cliff edge to Mürren village. Alternatively, from Interlaken direction, the Schilthornbahn cable car route goes: Stechelberg (valley floor, road-accessible) → Gimmelwald → Mürren → Birg → Schilthorn, so guests from Interlaken can also be driven to Stechelberg for the cable car ascent directly to Mürren.
Important for private transfer guests: InterlakenTransfers.ch drives you to Lauterbrunnen station (Grütschalp cable car departure) or to Stechelberg (Schilthornbahn departure). We assist with all luggage to the cable car. The two-stage journey to Mürren via Grütschalp takes approximately 20–25 minutes. Via Stechelberg to Mürren takes approximately 15 minutes. Return journeys are coordinated in reverse — we track your cable car and meet you at the valley station. Cable car fares are not included in the transfer price.
Mürren is the home of the Schilthorn (2,970 m) and the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant, made world-famous by the 1969 James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." The Bond World 007 exhibition at the summit offers interactive displays about the filming. The Schilthornbahn cable car ride from Mürren to the summit takes approximately 20 minutes and delivers views across more than 200 Alpine peaks on clear days, including the Jungfrau massif, the Blüemlisalp group, and on the clearest days, Mont Blanc (4,808 m) on the horizon.
Mürren's ski area (the Schilthorn ski area, also marketed as "the secret of skiing") is smaller than Grindelwald-Wengen but has a faithful following for its uncrowded pistes, reliable snow at altitude, and the extraordinary descent from the Schilthorn summit — 2,170 vertical metres to the valley, one of the longest descents in Switzerland. The Inferno ski race — a non-stop downhill from the Schilthorn to Lauterbrunnen (15.8 km, up to 2,170 m descent) — has run annually since 1928 and is the world's largest amateur downhill ski race, with over 1,800 participants.
Summer in Mürren offers superb high-altitude hiking: the Northface Trail (a loop below the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau faces, 4–5 hours), the Blumental valley walk, and the Allmendhubel flower trail — accessed by the Allmendhubel funicular from the village. The Allmendhubel mountain restaurant and its panoramic terrace (with the three giants behind) is arguably the finest lunch terrace in the Bernese Oberland. Accommodation in Mürren includes the Eiger Mürren Mountain Resort (renovated 2022), Hotel Alpina, Hotel Bellevue and various rental chalets and apartments.

We are not a broker or a booking platform that passes your reservation to a subcontractor. InterlakenTransfers.ch is a Swiss-based owner-operator: we own our vehicles, employ our drivers, and manage every booking directly. This means accountability — your booking confirmation is a direct commitment from us, not a pass-through to an unknown third party.
Book early. Private transfer capacity in the Jungfrau Region is limited relative to demand at peak times. July–August and the ski season (December–March, especially Christmas/New Year and Lauberhorn race week in January) are very busy periods. Booking 4–8 weeks in advance is standard; for peak weeks, 3–6 months is not too early.
Provide accurate flight details. For airport pickups, give us your full flight number (e.g. LX316, not just "Swiss") so we can monitor arrival times precisely. If your flight number changes or you rebook, update us immediately.
Luggage declaration. Please indicate the number and type of bags at booking — especially oversized items (ski bags, surfboards, golf bags, prams, bicycle cases). We will confirm the appropriate vehicle and arrange any special loading equipment.
Car-free village transfers (Wengen, Mürren, Zermatt). We drive you to the last road-accessible point (Lauterbrunnen station for Wengen and Mürren; Täsch for Zermatt) and assist with luggage to the cogwheel/cable car/shuttle platform. Plan at least 20–30 minutes for the mountain village connection. We can recommend timing to match your hotel check-in.
Winter driving. Our vehicles carry certified winter tyres from November 1 through March 31, with snow chains available for high-altitude mountain roads. We monitor road conditions (Brünig Pass, Susten Pass, Julier Pass, mountain approach roads) and will advise if weather affects timing. Swiss mountain roads are kept open year-round on main routes, but Alpine weather can cause short delays.
For groups larger than 8, bookings with special requirements, or multi-leg itineraries, contact us directly at bookings@interlakentransfers.ch.
